The Local Railroads of Arkansas (LRA)  is an organization formed as a public benefit corporation under the Arkansas Nonprofit Corporation Act of 1993.

The LRA works as a coalition to reach the goals set to improve and maintain the prosperity of the Railroad industry of Arkansas.

​

Our Goals: 

​

• Promote a positive awareness of the vital and unique role the smaller railroads play in the Arkansas transportation network and the link they provide to the national rail network for industries located in Arkansas.

​​

• Provide a forum to advance the state aspect of national transportation issues.

​

• Work with state leaders and departments to further rail related economic development initiatives and provide funding for rail projects.

​

• Promote a legislative and regulatory framework supporting an efficient rail system in Arkansas.

​

• Serve the industrial and economic needs of Arkansas.
